Pre-planning vs. Just winging it

So this afternoon I’ve spent the last two hours researching things to do on my next trip to Tromso, Norway and it has been exciting and frustating all at the same time. Personally, I think one of the best parts of travel is planning for a trip. I get so excited planning where to go, which flights to book, Googling activities to do and sights to see. In all honesty, sometimes I get more excited about the prospect of going to a new place than actually being there. Which leads me to ask, is it better to pre-plan your trip or just … Continue reading Pre-planning vs. Just winging it

Reaching the six month pinnacle..

In a mere three days I will cross off six months of being abroad. Part of me feels like its been an eternity since I left and the other part feels like I only left yesterday. I have witnessed so many things, felt so many emotions, laughed, cried, appreciated and cursed at what life has thrown me in the past six months but I wouldn’t take a second of it back. I’m still on the search to find who I really am and I’m still making mistakes that I shouldn’t be but I am in a much better place emotionally … Continue reading Reaching the six month pinnacle..

A time to reflect..

As I sit here on my bed, listening to Christmas carols and drinking tea, trying to hurry up the next couple of hours so I can head to the airport to fly out to Vietnam where I’ll be seeing my family after five months of being away, I’m looking through my photos reminiscing of the year so far. I’ve had my heart broken, quit my job, moved to Holland, … Continue reading A time to reflect..

Someone pinch me..

Its around 7:30pm on the 27th of September 2013 and I’m sitting on a plane bound to London to visit friends and a special someone. I have come from Den Haag, Holland, where I have been living for a month with a family in a fabulous three story terrace house complete with a dog, cat and two rabbits. OK, someone pinch me. Nope, not dreaming. I’m having the ultimate “wow” moment right now. I can’t believe in the short space of two months I have totally changed my path in life. And whats more, every step of the way has … Continue reading Someone pinch me..

The Dutch Life (Part 1)

Hey there. So basically I’m treating this as a sort of online diary/journal/ramblings as I spend the next year working (or hardly working) as an Au Pair for a family in Holland. A bit of background. I’m 21 (almost 22 – and yes, I plan to sing that Taylor Swift song ALL year) I recently moved from Newcastle, Australia to Den Haag, Holland. Why? Because ever since I finished school it has been a dream/goal to live overseas, and finally – after four years – I am doing it. I left quite a good job at a coal mining company, … Continue reading The Dutch Life (Part 1)
